There’s a new jean in town, only surfacing occasionally. When I catch it, there’s something familiar about it. It’s archetypal, not exaggerated, or a novelty. These jeans walk the line between All-American standard, and a modern, tomboy, industrial look. I went on the search for them to write this story, and found it difficult to pin them down. It proved challenging finding local resources, in a range of sizes, and inclusive prices, so everyone can play.
It all started with Dries Van Noten’s Fall 2017 collection. Always, his clothes speak to us, work for us, represent us. This 100th runway show was a celebration of plum aged women–with models who have walked for him over the past 25 years. His luxe vs. everyday clashing, his color and pattern–smart, interesting and fun. This season his trademarks were like arrows pointing to the understated and plain. This simple jean cut had something about it. It was like the perfect baguette, omelette, chocolate cake. Here it is:
And wait, there’s even more! Indulge in slimming? Get into comfortable? Why yes, I’ll take easy! But for all that payoff, you may have to put in some upfront work. This style is not widely available yet. There aren’t a lot of places to go try this style on. I’m a big online shopper, but in this case it’s tough, because it’s jeans. However, easier to give it a try because this style is forgiving, and because they’re fabulous!
I’m buying mine this week, and we’ll be featuring ways to wear these super cool jeans. The feminine foils will be more fun than a good night’s sleep. I’ll be looking for a bargain, since I’m not at my best weight yet (I know, it’s a tired story at this point!). The It Thing about this style is the roomy fit–don’t skimp on sizing.
Challenge yourself to give this jean a try. It will likely be your easiest hurdle of the week. Here are our finds:
