To fully realize romantic dressing, we need to be vulnerable. Fanciful style is the outer manifestation of our inner romantic novel, our indulgence of the forbidden prince on the white horse. When our feminine side takes over there’s a dynamism in that too, giving way to the lifeblood of being a woman.
Just like softening our persona doesn’t mean letting go of boundaries, or not expressing ourselves, adding romance to our outfit doesn’t mean cute or young pieces. Ruffles can go crazy–i.e., around the armholes; and a misplaced seam can mean immature–read babydoll. Sophisticated romance has movement, a great cut, sumptuous fabric, and maybe shows some skin.
Accessories are a little, or a lot over the top, in color, shine, material. There’s also something unique about romantic accessories that catches the eye, and says special occasion. Don’t save them. Think about how beautiful, stylized shoes romance jeans and a T.

Being fully in our womanhood means romancing ourselves too. When we’re being good to us, indulging in our own pleasures, growing and learning, giving space to explore and wonder, we open. Romanticism thrives there.
This Valentine’s Day let romance carry a little of the daily load, in your satin shoes at the theater or your satin PJ’s and a good book.
