Mascara and lipstick are my dessert island beauty products.
I love to go completely make-up free. But when I want to put it on with the most minimal effort and get the biggest bang, it’s mascara and lipstick. Good lashes not only bring out the windows to your soul, they enhance your beauty, and hide wrinkles.
I’ve always been a prestige brand mascara buyer. Even though over the years I’ve repeatedly heard that a drugstore brand that really delivers, is Maybelline’s lineup of mascaras. Models and celebrities who have access to every imaginable makeup line, still swear by Maybelline mascara. I decided to give it a try about a year ago. I picked The Falsies, looking like it would give me the highest impact, natural look.
In my makeup routine, I spend the most time on mascara. I curl my lashes first, then apply two coats. First coat goes on each eye, then I go back to the first eye to start the second coat. I let The Falsies sit for a couple of minutes, then I press my index finger against the base of my lashes, then at the top of the lash, bending them back to sort of set the curl. The curved wand has just the right give and bounce to resist the lashes. The formula spreads and gives control to brush my lashes where I want them. It doesn’t clump, yet it thickens and fans my lashes out to cover the most area and look feminine.
Lipsticks are a fun and easy lift to your mood and your face. I was in Sephora today and couldn’t resist Lipstories, a line that reminds me of postcards from Portofino. It put me in the spring holiday scene, and it will take me there each time I pull the tube out of my handbag. A stain-matte-highly-pigmented formula with great slip–it’s A Little Magic, and that’s the name of the color too.
For less than a $20 bill, this duo does it–lashes and lips to fall in love with.
